Let’s jump into it.
⚾️💰 Entertainment’s Moneyball Moment
We’re excited to share Adim’s latest blog where our Chief Community Officer, Spencer Marell, makes the case we need to reevaluate the frameworks which the foundation of the entertainment industry are built upon to innovate and find alternative paths to success – akin to the way the 2002 Oakland A’s did with the sport of baseball.
Here you can find the piece and collect a genesis collectible to celebrate our publishing launch on Mirror (free, avail for 1 week).
🦸 Medium Blog: Character Study
Our very own Creative Strategist, Kyle Mazer, wrote the second portion of a 3-chapter study of Characters on Conception.
“At the end of the first chapter, I told you that there was no magic formula for making a good character, that it’s the ever-evolving nature of storytelling and the individual characters we each can create that often makes the artform so appealing. But just because there may not be one single, codifiable recipe to characterization, that doesn’t mean there aren’t many ingredients at your disposal to — I guess we’re quite deep in this metaphor now — make your character taste as delicious as it can.”

🎊 Forbes 30u30
Adim co-founders, Chase Rosenblatt & Spencer Marell, made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2023 last week.

Community Member Spotlight
This week we sat down with one of our Adim Members, Stefanie Botelho, to highlight her story as a creator and her experience thus far as an integral member of our community.
Stefanie was ready for a new challenge.
The feeling wasn’t all that new for her — after graduating from Harvard University with a degree in Government, she had many times found herself seeking greater creativity and entrepreneurial freedom both in and out of her work. First, it was the transition from an investment banking analyst at Morgan Stanley to supporting founders as a late stage venture capital investor at Technology Crossover Ventures. Then it was going back to Harvard Business School to become a venture backed entrepreneur herself. At HBS, she started Fitzroy, a business-to-business e-commerce and financing platform to help small and medium sized companies grow by getting their products on mega-store shelves. From there, she transitioned to leading a portfolio of payments products at Stripe, applying her user-based experience at a greater scale. Before all of that, it was stitching her own finger puppets to sell to her grade school friends to liven up the day in between classes: “I had even figured out seasonality. There was definitely a Santa puppet.”
Her entire life, Stefanie has walked a fine line between the entrepreneurial and creative arts—in her undergrad at Harvard, she worked in comedy for the Harvard Lampoon and in musical theater for the Hasty Pudding Theatricals. But at the heart of everything Stefanie has done, whether on the business side, landing herself on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Enterprise Technology List, or in the arts, spearheading the global licensing and acquisitions of independent films for MUBI, one thing has always been true, a desire to democratize access and foster community: “it will always be more about the people than anything else.” If only there was a start-up that existed to inspire creative collaboration…
“Adim is a fun experiment in creative utopian democracy.” Stefanie says. With much of her creative experience coming on the business side, Stefanie initially found herself intimidated by some of the big names and their respective IMDb pages when she joined the Adimverse. But that didn’t stop her from getting involved – in fact, she joined three rooms and gave each her full focus. “Everyone is so welcoming and open to ideas, the free-flowing nature of doing multiple rooms shows just how differently a room can evolve from the same template depending on the voices contributing to it and how they build on each other.”
Applying her skills in product management to “think like a user,” Stefanie has loved thinking now from the perspective of a character, wanting to imbue emotional processes to new but similar types of storytelling. Instead of narrativizing which products should be put on which shelves or how a bill is paid, she’s helped build the world of GoGoGorilla, define the future of Zaug, and bring a blue-sky room down to earth. And all the while, what she focuses on is the same as it has always been – the people. “The breadth of perspectives of my room members, their backgrounds and skills and, as a result, their voices, is really incredible.”
As Stefanie looks forward, she is sure to stay a big part of the Adimverse, and is equally sure the Adimverse will stay with her as well. “Creative leadership is something that is really unique, and Adim is going to make me a better creator and leader in any future experiences I have”.
This section will feature resources curated for the development of our community. This week, we’re exploring Ben Affleck & Matt Damon’s new production company, a thesis for building enduring web3 communities and an exploration of new communication layers. Feel free to drop a line in the #📦│library to share additional topics you’re interested in exploring in future Adim Ink editions.
📚 Reading of the Week
Ben Affleck & Matt Damon announced on Sunday that they plan to start an independent production company, called Artists’ Equity. Unlike streaming services and most studios, they plan to share profits with their actors and off-camera artisans. The New York Times has more here.
